Sage has one of the longest histories of use as a culinary and medicinal herb. As a medicinal herb, the important health benefits of sage include its ability to improve brain function, lower inflammation, prevent chronic diseases, boost the immune system, regulate digestion, alleviate skin conditions, strengthen the bones, slow the onset of cognitive disorders, and prevent diabetes.

Culinary seen, the strong flavour of sage means that a little goes a long way, especially if you're using dried leaves, so use sparingly. It can be used in a myriad of recipes and is very common in the Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. Sage goes well with pork, beef, duck and chicken recipes, as well as cheeses and vegetables. Unlike the more delicate herbs, it can be added at the beginning of cooking and pairs nicely with other strongly flavored herbs, such as rosemary, thyme, savory, and oregano as well as the lemon herbs.

Aside of the culinary and medicinal benefits, another very common use of Sage is burning it or "smudging" it. It is an exceptional energy purifier for getting rid of negative energy from your home, office, body, mind and spirit!
